Why VTR moves CPV

Views = impressions x view rate. Hold spend and impressions constant: 100,000 impressions at a 30% view rate is 30,000 views; at 36% it is 36,000 views. $750 of spend moves from $0.025 to $0.021 per view without touching the bid. The lever is the creative hook, not the auction.

What a good view rate is

No sourced VTR norm passes our ledger rule, so we do not print one. Google defines the metric Google Ads Help, video ad views, 2026but publishes no benchmark rate. Use your own account history: view rate is stable enough per format that last quarter's number is your best baseline. In-feed and in-stream rates are not comparable; the user action that triggers a counted view differs.
